Perfect read for a weekend.Posted December 11, 2016
It’s been a while since I last dropped by, but rather than write when I have nothing to say, I much prefer to wait until I have something exciting to tell you about. So, rather than pitch my own books this week, I thought I’d tell you about the best book I’ve read in a long time.
The Life we Bury by Allen Eskens is one of those rare novels that haunts you long after you’ve read the last page. The premise is simple. A student receives an assignment to write a biography. Since he can’t for many reasons interview anyone from his family, he goes to a nursing home, figuring that among all the old people living there, someone must have an interesting life to recount. This is how he comes to meet a Vietnam vet, convicted of rape and murder. What ensues is what I have rarely read, a literary thriller that packs twists and turns and plenty of punches. This novel is a must read for anyone who enjoys good writing and a hell of a good story. Click on this link to find it on Amazon.
